Oscar Nominated film 'Nomadland' sets to hit theatres in India

On April 2, Searchlight Pictures, a division of Walt Disney sets to release Nomadland, an Oscar-nominated neo-western film, in Indian theatres, beginning the Academy Award season in the Country. Every year, in the run-up to the big day, films nominated for the prestigious award are given a limited release in India.

Including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress, Nomadland has received six nominations at the 93rd Academy Awards. It has also earned four nominations at the 78th Golden Awards and won Best Motion Picture for Drama and Best Director.

The film, directed by Chloe Zhao and starring Frances McDormand, is described as a "empathic Oscar-tipped feature about a sixty-something woman who takes to itinerant van life after the closure of a mine vanishes her livelihood in Nevada town," according to the Guardian.
