World Water Day: PM Modi to launch 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan'



On the occasion of World Water Day, PM Modi will launch the Jal Shakti Abhiyan and will join the event through video conferencing. This campaign has been named 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain'.


Under this campaign, many districts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh will get relief from drought. The agreement will be signed between Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath in the presence of PM MODI on the Ken-Betwa River Link Project of Union Water Power Ministry, on Monday.


This campaign will be run in both rural and urban areas. Its purpose will be to collect rainwater. From 22 March 2021 to 30 November 2021, this campaign will be carried out throughout the country before the monsoon. In which it is being started as a movement for water conservation at the grassroots level through people's participation.


There are many areas of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, which are struggling with water problems most of the year and in some areas, women are forced to fetch water from several kilometres away. If this campaign proves effective, then some rural areas will get relief.
