As per reports two people have died and five other have been injured in a caving-in incident during tunnel construction work at Sivok–Rangpo rail line at Bhalukhola, Kalimpong.
As per reports two of the five injured shifted to Paramount Hospital in Siliguri and three shifted to Kalimpong Hospital.
More details have been awaited as the administration, Police and fire tenders have been pressed in action in the rescue operation.
According to Project Director, IRCON while speaking to ANI has said that necessary precaution was taken by officials before undertaking rescue operation.
Part of the cave fell on workers and there was no time for them to escape. Adequate compensation and support will be given to workers' families who died in the incident.
