Bikaner-Guwahati Express (15633) Derailed In West Bengal's Jalpaiguri District Leaves 12 Dead

Latest reports have been coming in from West Bengal where a major railway accident has occurred which has left 12 people dead.

According to reports coming in six people have lost their lives after 12 coaches of the Bikaner-Guwahati Express (15633) derailed in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on Thursday.

This has been reported by the Chief Public Relations Officer, Northeast Frontier Railway.

According to reports coming in from the mishap the death toll in Bikaner-Guwahati Express mishap has risen to 12. 

Rescue operation is over. And according to reports coming in 36 injured were admitted to different hospitals. 

Passengers were sent to Guwahati by special train according to Union Minister John Barla.

According to reports coming in from West Bengal where Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has reached the train accident site near Domohani, Jalpaiguri.

He has said that a statutory inquiry has been initiated. PM Modi is monitoring the situation and I'm in constant touch with him. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at the mishap site has said that in the Bikaner-Guwahati train mishap preliminary inquiry shows there was a glitch in locomotive equipment. 

The Commission of Rail Safety is conducting an inquiry to find the root cause behind the accident.

The disbursement of ex gratia amount to the families of the victims has begun. Family of each deceased will get Rs 5 lakhs, those who sustained grievous injuries will get Rs 1 lakh, & those with nonserious injuries will get Rs 25,000 according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
