Heavy Firing Near Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant That Provides About 25% of Ukraine’s Power Generation

Latest reports have been in coming in from Russia and Ukraine crisis which has been going on since past many days.

According to latest reports Ukraine Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that the Russian army is firing from all sides upon Zaporizhzhia NPP.

According to sources Zaporizhzhia NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Fire has already broken out. If it blows up, it will be 10 times larger than Chernobyl.

As per sources from the Ukraine Foreign Affairs Minister Air raid alerts in Odesa, Bila Tserkva, and Volyn Oblast has been initiated. 

The Kyiv Independent Residents further adds that residents should go to the nearest shelter.

The Associated Press quoting a government official has said that elevated levels of radiation were detected near the site of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.

As per reports Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant provides about 25% of Ukraine’s power generation.

However, International Atomic Energy Agency has also tweeted that IAEA is aware of reports of shelling at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

This is in contact with Ukrainian authorities about situation as further added by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

According to reports coming in from IAEA Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi has spoken with Ukraine PM Denys Shmygal and Ukrainian nuclear regulator and operator.

He has appealed for halt of use of force and warns of severe danger if reactors hit according to the tweet IAEA Russia Ukraine.
