Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met his mother Heeraben Modi at his residence in Gandhinagar in Gujarat on his birthday.
The Prime Minister asked his mother for blessings and washed her feet.
Born June 18, 1923, Mrs. Modi enters the centenary of her life today.
PM Modi later wrote a heartwarming letter to his mother.
"Maa ... this is not just a word but it takes a lot of emotion. Today, June 18 is the day Mama Heeraba enters her 100th birthday. On this special day, I wrote a few thoughts expressing joy and gratitude," PM Modi wrote on Twitter. , shared a link to his blog.
"Today, I feel very happy and fortunate to tell my mother St. Heeraba she is entering her 100th birthday. This would be her 100th birthday. If my father were still alive, she would be celebrating her 100th birthday last week.. of my mother, and my father would destroy his own, "the Prime Minister wrote in his letter.
Prime Minister Modi is in Gujarat for a day visit where he will be visiting the Pavagadh temple before addressing a conference in Vadodara.
Religious arrangements have been made for the prime minister's hometown of Vadnagar to celebrate his mother's birthday. The Modi family also organized a public dinner at the Jagannath temple in Ahmedabad.
Mrs Modi lives with the younger brother of Prime Minister Pankaj Modi in Raysan village on the outskirts of Gandhinagar.
Ahead of Ms Modi's 100th anniversary, a 80-meter-long road in the Raysan area was named after her earlier this week.
"As Hiraba enters his 100th year, we have decided to rename the 80-meter road in the Raysan area as Pujya Hiraba Marg so that the next generation can find inspiration in his life," Gandhinagar Mayor Hitesh Makwana, quoted by PTI, said. .
PM Modi had last visited her mother in March.
