Shiv Sena MLA Says Party Should Renew Relationship With BJP!

Shiv Sena MP Pratap Sarnaik on Wednesday said the party should renew ties with the BJP, as the Maharashtra government led by Uddhav Thackeray is facing a crisis following the rebellion of a segment of Senate MPs led by Eknath Shinde.
Mr Sarnaik, a Member of Parliament from Thane constituency, Ovala-Majiwada, was involved in an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate into money laundering. Last year he wrote a letter to the Prime Minister and Senate president Uddhav Thackeray, saying the party should join hands with the BJP to save its leaders from the actions of the central parties.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Sarnaik said, "I first expressed the view that Shiv Sena should be aligned with the BJP."

Mr Sarnaik in a letter to CM last year said that although BJP and Shiv Sena were no longer participants, their leaders had a good relationship and Sena should take advantage of this.

Significantly, the ED had recently attached Mr Sarnaik's ₹ 11 crore worth of money in a money laundering case linked to National Spot Exchange Limited (NSEL). A handful of politicians and ministers of the Maha government Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, in the province have faced ED action in the past.

On Wednesday morning, a group of 40 MPs from Maharashtra, led by opposition leader Eknath Shinde, arrived in Guwahati and were taken to a luxury hotel outside the city amid tight security.

Earlier, MPs were taken to Surat Gujarat from Mumbai on Tuesday, and the decision to relocate them to Guwahati in Assam was taken for security reasons, according to a BJP source.
