Toblerone Chocolate, World-Famous, To Make A Big Change!

Toblerone will have to pull "Switzerland" out of its own pocket as mountain-shaped chocolate will no longer be the only production in its home country from 2023.
Founded in 1908 at the Tobler family factory, the triangular chocolate is produced in Bern, in the heart of the Alpine country.

But the product's owner, American food giant Mondelez International, said Toblerone would open a new production line in Slovakia by the end of the year "to respond to growing demand".

Mondelez International told AFP in an email that it was continuing to invest in the Bern industry. The launch of the production line in Slovakia, where Mondelez also produces chocolate Milka and Muchard, "will open up a huge volume" in the Bern area, eventually allowing "to produce millions of extra bars," Mondelez said.

"For legal reasons, the changes we bring to our production require that we adjust our packaging to comply with Swiss law, in particular removing the word 'Switzerland' from the front of the package," the company said. Toblerone produces seven billion chocolate bars a year, with 97 percent of the product exported to 120 countries. They are available everywhere at free airline stores.
