5 Rohingya Children Escape From Assam's Silkar View Home


Five Rohingya children who were detained in Assam's Silchar on May 29 escaped by breaking the wall of the observation house where they were kept. According to the police, the incident happened in the early hours of July 1.
They were kept at the Government Children's Observation Home at Meherpur in Silchar.

Police sources said that the children took advantage of the flood situation in Silchar, broke the wall of the observation house and fled along with two local children who stayed at the centre.

On May 29, Silchar police detained 26 Rohingya, including eight women and 12 children. The team arrived at Kamakhya station in Guwahati from Delhi by train on 28 May and traveled to Silchar by road in two Innova cars and reached Silchar in the early hours of the next day.

The police kept the minors in the observation house and the others in the Silchar Central Jail.
