Actress Rhea Chakraborty was on Wednesday accused by the country's anti-narcotics agency of procuring narcotics for her actor-boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput, who died in 2020.
A charge sheet filed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has named her and 34 others as accused in the high-profile case.
Ms. Chakraborty, 30, was charged with purchasing and financing a small amount of marijuana. Her brother, Showik Chakraborty, was also named as an accused.
The NCB said it received and supplied marijuana to Sushant Singh. She also paid for it at his behest, they said.
If convicted, Rhea Chakraborty could spend more than 10 years in prison.
The actor called the accusations against her a "witch hunt". she admitted that Sushant Singh Rajput smoked marijuana, but denied using drugs or helping to procure them.
"I've tried to control him... I've never talked to a (drug) dealer or taken drugs in my life. I'm open to a blood test,"
