Coronavirus Live Update: 16,103 new cases, More than 31 deaths in India!

India has contracted 16,103 new coronavirus infections with a total number of cases of COVID-19 reaching 4,35,02,429, and active cases increased to 1,11,711, according to a Union Health Department report updated Sunday.
The death toll rose to 5,25,199 and 31 young people died, according to data updated at 8am.

Active cases accounted for 0.26 percent of total cases, and the national COVID-19 detection rate was recorded at 98.54 percent, the department said.

An increase of 2,143 cases was recorded on the active COVID-19 over a 24-hour period.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
