Daler Mehndi was sentenced to 2 years in prison in 2003 in a human trafficking case

The Patiala District Court today dismissed singer Daler Mehndi's appeal against his two-year jail sentence in a 2003 human trafficking case and he was remanded in custody.
In an FIR nineteen years ago, Daler Mehndi and his brother Shamsher Singh were accused of taking money to illegally send people abroad by posing as members of his group. In 2018, they were given a two-year jail sentence by the Magistrate's Court, but were out on bail and appealed. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge HS Grewal today dismissed Daler Mehndi's appeal.

His bail application and probation application were also rejected so he was shifted to Patiala Jail. He has the option of approaching the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking bail and appealing against the sentence.
