LIVE coronavirus update: India reports 20,038 new Covid cases, 47 deaths in 24 hours

India reported a total of 20,038 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the number of cases to 4,37,10,027, while the number of active cases of the disease rose to 1,39,073, according to updated data from the Union Health Ministry. on Friday.
The death toll from the disease climbed to 5,25,604 with 47 new deaths reported, the data was updated on Friday.

Active cases now account for 0.32 percent of the total number of infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.48 percent, the health ministry said.

The country's active number of COVID-19 cases has seen an increase of 2,997 cases in a span of 24 hours, the data showed.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
