Prime Minister Unveils Statue of Freedom Hero Alluri Sitarama Raju in Andhra Today!


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday headed to Andhra Pradesh in Bhimavaram to attend the 125th anniversary of the birth of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.
The Prime Minister will also unveil the 30-meter-tall bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju at the event.

"We are going to Bhimavaram to attend a special program - the 125th anniversary of the birth of the great freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju. He will also unveil the bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju. This will enhance the celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav," said Prime Minister Modi. in a tweet.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister (PMO), at about 11am, the Prime Minister will mark the 125th birthday of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju in Bhimavaram.


Born July 4, 1897, Alluri Sitarama Raju is remembered for his war with the British, in order to protect the interests of tribal communities in the Eastern Ghats region. He led the Rampa rebellion, which was founded in 1922. He is called "Manyam Veerudu" (Forest Hero) by the locals.

The government has planned a series of programs as part of the annual celebration.

The birthplace of Alluri Sitarama Raju in Pandrangi in the Vizianagaram region and at the Chintapalli Police Station (100th anniversary of the Rampa Rebellion - an attack by the police station marked the beginning of the Rampa Rebellion) will be restored.

The government has also approved the construction of the Alluri Dhyana Mandir in Mogallu with a portrait of Alluri Sitarama Raju in Dhyana Mudra, depicting the life story of the freedom fighter through murals and a practical application using AI.

Later in the day, he will also visit Gandhinagar in Gujarat where he will present Digital India Week 2022 in Gandhinagar, with the theme 'Catalyzing New India's Techade'.
