Bihar: CBI files charge sheet against Lalu Prasad Yadav in land for job scam case

Patna: CBI has filed a charge sheet against former Railway Minister and RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and 15 others in the land for job scam case. The CBI had registered an FIR in this case on May 18 this year.

The CBI has filed a charge sheet against former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi and 14 others in a land-for-job scam allegedly during Lalu's tenure in the Railways.

Lalu Prasad's daughter Misa Bharti and a former railway general manager have also been named as accused in the charge sheet filed before a special CBI court recently.

What is the matter?: This recruitment scam is from the time between 2004 and 2009. It is alleged that when Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister, he had taken land and plots in lieu of providing jobs.

The CBI had registered a preliminary inquiry on September 23, 2021, related to the alleged land-for-job scam in the Railways, which was converted into an FIR on May 18.

According to the agency, the candidates were allegedly given jobs by the railway authorities in a hurry, within three days of applying. Later, the job seekers themselves or their family members transferred their land to the accused.

The CBI alleges that the transfer was made in the name of Rabri Devi and daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav.
