Uttarakhand: PM Narendra Modi In Kedarnath, Will Lay Foundation Of Development Projects



New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kedarnath on Friday morning. Modi, who arrived to have a darshan of Baba, was seen in a Himachali cap and a special white dress.

Narendra Modi is on a visit to Uttarakhand today. He will lay the foundation stone development schemes of 3400 crore in Kedarnath, Badrinath and Mana. These include plans related to the Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib rope ways and two highways in the Mana region bordering China.

PM has reached Kedarnath for the sixth time in 8 years.


The ropeway to be built in Kedarnath will be one of the longest rope ways in the world: This ropeway is 9.7 km long, which will connect Gaurikund with Kedarnath. Right now it takes about six hours to cover this distance. Once the ropeway is built, this journey will be completed in 30 minutes.

PM will visit Samadhi of Adi Guru Shankaracharya: After laying the foundation stone of the ropeway, PM will visit the Samadhi of Adi Guru Shankaracharya. During this visit, he will take stock of the ongoing development works on the banks of river Mandakini and Saraswati. 

 The doors of Kedarnath Dham are closing on 27th October while the doors of Badrinath Dham are closing on 19th November.

PM has gone to Kedarnath five times so far: This is the sixth Kedarnath visit of Narendra Modi after becoming PM. For the first time he went to Kedarnath Dham on 3 May 2017.
