Mumbai: Veteran actor Arun Bali, remembered for his work on TV show Swabhimaan and blockbuster hit 3 Idiots, passed away on Friday morning at his residence in suburban Mumbai at the age of 79.
There was a time when Doordarshan used to telecast many purposeful serials, which had made a special place in the hearts of people. One of these serials was Swabhimaan. Arun Bali did great acting in this. Other serials of Bali include Woh Rehne Wali Mahalon Ki, Desh Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, Amrapali, Maika, Maryada Lekin Kab Tak, I Love My India, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev and Jai Ganesha. In the year 1991, he played the role of Raja Porus in the historical serial Chanakya.
Did impressive roles in many films: Bali left a distinct mark with the characters he played in many films like Raju Ban Gaya Gentlemen, Qaida Kanoon, Khalnayak, Heer Ranjha, Ram Jaane, Satya, Hey Ram, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Three Idiots, Barfi, O My God, PK, Manmarziyaan, Kedarnath, Lal Singh Chaddha.
Bali's son Ankush said his father had been suffering with Myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease caused by communication failure between nerves and muscles, for which he was admitted to a hospital early this year. Ankush said his father was responding well to the treatment but passed away at around 4.30 am.
