Out of 180 assembly seats, candidates have been announced for 160 seats. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will contest from Ghatlodhiya. Here against him is Amy Yagnik of Congress.

The 38 BJP MLAs who have been denied the ticket this time also include former CM Vijay Rupani and seven legislators who were part of his cabinet between 2017 and 2021 as ministers. Rupani and his entire Council of Ministers were replaced by the BJP in September 2021.

During the Morbi bridge accident, Kantilal jumped into the Machhu river to save the lives of the people. He also posted a video for the quick rescue.
