Madhya Pradesh: 42 lakh women empowered by joining SHGs, says Draupadi Murmu

Bhopal: President Smt. Draupadi Murmu has said that remarkable work has been done in Madhya Pradesh to make women self-dependent through self-help groups. Here about 42 lakh women have been empowered economically and socially by joining self-help groups. These women have been provided bank loans worth Rs 4 thousand 157 crore for agricultural and non-agricultural works through the government. Their products have been taken to big markets through 'one district-one product' scheme in the state. Products worth more than Rs 535 crore have been sold through the Aajeevika Mart Portal. President Murmu was addressing a self-help group conference in Bhopal.


Maximum participation of women power is necessary

President Smt. Murmu said that maximum participation of women power is necessary in making a self-reliant and developed India. We have to create such an environment, so that girls of all classes feel fearless and independent and can make full use of their talents. She said that the women of Madhya Pradesh have made invaluable contribution in the development of the country. The excellence of women in India has been recognized since ancient times. 

Murmu said that today women are playing a major role in every field, economic, social, political, scientific, research, art, culture, literature, sports, military forces etc. 


Didis of Aajeevika Mission did a miracle

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that our sisters are not weak and are a storehouse of infinite powers. A large number of women are joining the Lakhpati Club, whose annual income has crossed one lakh. Women empowerment has taken the form of a mass movement in Madhya Pradesh. The government is making every possible effort for their empowerment.

Sushri Phoolwati of Kaveri Self-Help Group of Shahdol and Sushri Anita Patelia of Sahyog Self-Help Group of Guna shared their experiences. President Smt. Draupadi Murmu was presented a shawl decorated with Gondi painting by Sushri Phoolwati Singh and Sushri Anita presented silk jewelry made by the group.
