Bihar Saran Chhapra Hooch Tragedy: New Shocking Revelation Even As Death Toll Mounts To 55


Patna: Now a new shocking revelation has come to light in the spurious liquor case in Saran, Chhapra, Bihar. A large quantity of spirit is missing from the spirit container seized in the police station here. It is suspected that this poisonous liquor was made from this, which resulted in deaths. 

It was not supplied from anywhere but from the police station. As a proof of this, the villagers made a video and sent it to KK Pathak, Principal Secretary, Excise Department.

Drums of seized spirit found open

After the complaint, the Principal Secretary swung into action and sent Joint Commissioner Krishna Paswan and Deputy Secretary Niranjan Kumar to investigate. The officers found the drums of seized spirit were open. Spirit was missing. 

Now the sample has been sent to Patna. Those who have complained have said that spirit was supplied to the businessmen from the police station with the help of the watchman and the police. Many container lids are missing.

Death toll reached 55

The death toll due to alcohol rose to 55. There were 5 deaths on the first day on Tuesday. After this, 25 people died on Wednesday and 19 on Thursday. Till Friday morning, 4 more people succumbed. Most of the deaths occurred in Mashrakh, Amanour and Madhaura areas of Chhapra. These people were getting treatment in private clinics or at home. 

Among those who died, there are three people who were selling liquor themselves. On the other hand, the police has suspended the SHO and Chowkidar of Mashrakh while the DM has recommended transfer of SDPO of Madhaura and departmental action to the department.

150 people arrested in 48 hours

7 teams of excise department are conducting raids. 600 liters of illegal liquor has been recovered from different areas of Mashrakh. So far 150 people have been arrested in 48 hours.
