Lokesh Rahul Can Play Role Of Wicketkeeper If Needed

Dhaka: Indian batsman Lokesh Rahul has said that he is ready to play the role of a wicket-keeper batsman if required in ODI cricket.

After the one-wicket defeat in the first ODI against Bangladesh, Rahul said, "We have not played much ODI cricket in the last six-seven months, but in 2020-21, I played the role of wicketkeeper in ODI cricket and batted at number 4 and 5.”

It is noteworthy that Rahul was given the responsibility of wicketkeeper in the first ODI against Bangladesh after Rishabh Pant was injured. Rahul, who opened for India in T20 and Test, scored the highest 73 runs for the team while batting at number five here.

India set a target of 186 runs in front of Bangladesh, thanks to Rahul's half-century, although Bangladesh achieved this target with the loss of nine wickets.

Team asked me to be ready for wicketkeeper responsibility

Rahul said, "It is a responsibility that the team has asked me to be ready for. I have done this before, and I will play this role whenever the team requires it."

Rahul said he has been working on his game since the T20 World Cup and is feeling good after scoring runs at the international level.

Rahul's performance in the T20 World Cup was disappointing, where he could not even touch double figures in four out of six innings and scored a total of 128 runs at an average of 21.33.
