59 Percent Voting Till 5 PM In Gujarat Assembly Election Phase Two


Gandhinagar: This time in Gujarat, 63.31% votes were cast in the first phase, while 59.11% voting has been done till 5 pm in the second phase. This figure of the second phase can go up to 64 to 65 percent by late night. Even if this happens, the average voting in the two phases will be around 64%.
Last time 69.2% votes were cast in Gujarat. That is, it is seen to decline by about 5%. In the last five elections, BJP has lost and Congress has gained due to fall in vote percentage in 3 elections. In the 2012 elections, the vote share had increased by 13%, yet the BJP lost two seats.

Voting began in the state at 8 am on Monday amid tight security. Long queues of voters were seen at many places at polling stations since morning.

The Chief Electoral Officer's office said that the work of calculating and compiling the percentage is still going on. Sabarkantha has the highest percentage of 39.73 percent and Mahisagar has the lowest percentage of 29.72 percent.

PM, CM cast vote: Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote at Nishan Vidyalaya booth in Ranip area of Ahmedabad, Union Home Minister Amit Shah with his family at Naraynpura, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at Sheelaj Primary School Booth-95 in Ahmedabad and former Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel at Kadi in Mehsana. 

Modi's mother cast vote: Modi's mother Hiraba reached a polling booth in a wheel chair in Gandhinagar, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel cast her vote in Ahmedabad and former royal queen mother Shubhangini Raje Gaikwad also cast her vote in Vadodara.
