Russian President Putin's Critic Pavel Antonov Dies Mysteriously In Odisha Hotel

Rayagada (Odisha): A shocking news has come out from Raigad in Odisha. Two Russian tourists who came here to visit India died within a week. It has been told that Russia's highest-paid politician Pavel Antonov died on Saturday after falling from the window of his room in a hotel in Odisha. 

His friend had died only 2 days back: Two days before this i.e. on Thursday itself, one of his friends had died apparently of a heart attack during a party in India.

Pavel was on a vacation to celebrate birthday: Pavel Antov was a wealthy Russian legislator and outspoken critic of President Vladimir Putin. He was discovered dead after mysteriously falling from a hotel in Odisha. The multi-millionaire legislator was on a vacation in Odisha's Rayagada, where he was celebrating his 66th birthday

He had criticized Putin after start of war with Ukraine: Pavel Antonov has been associated with the pro-party of Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, after the start of the war with Ukraine, he had criticized Putin on several occasions. Antonov was an MP from Russia's Vladimir region and was Russia's highest-paid politician in 2019. 

According to local police, Antonov died after falling from the third floor of a hotel. The police officer said that 65-year-old Pavel Antonov was found lying outside the hotel in a pool of blood on Saturday. 

Pavel's friend was found dead on 22 Dec: His companion Vladimir Bidenov was found dead in the same hotel on 22 December. He was lying unconscious in his room on the first floor of the hotel and had some empty liquor bottles with him. On being taken to the district hospital, the doctors declared him brought dead.

Several eyebrows were raised about the mysterious death, when the hotel's receptionist said that he did not know whether Pavel Antov committed suicide or fell from the third floor.

Vladimir and Pavel were part of a four-member group of Russian tourists who, along with their guide Jitendra Singh, checked into a hotel in Rayagada city on Wednesday. 

Case of suicide?: On Pavail's death, a senior police officer said it appeared to be a case of suicide. He said that Pavel was in depression due to the death of his friend.

Police said they are investigating all angles of Pavel's death, including the possibility that he accidentally fell from the roof. The official said two other members of the group have been asked to stay back and cooperate with the probe.
