Theni (Tamil Nadu): Eight Sabarimala devotees died tragically when a car fell into a 40 feet deep gorge at Kumuli hill pass in Theni district of Tamil Nadu. District Collector KV Muraleedharan has given this information. The two injured have been admitted to a hospital here.

Driver lost control at a bend on hilly road

According to the police, there is a possibility of an accident due to the driver losing control of the vehicle at the bend in the hilly road. 

Seven people died on the spot, while one succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, the police said. The dead, including a minor boy, were residents of Andipatti in the district. They returning from Sabarimala. More details are awaited.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
