Tunisha Sharma’s Death A case Of Love-Jihad, says Maharashtra Minister; Women Are Not Safe On Set Of Show, Says Cine Workers Assn

Mumbai: Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Girish Mahajan has averred that the death of actress Tunisha Sharma is a case of love jihad and that the government is planning to bring a strict law to stop such incidents.
Mahajan's statement came on Sunday when police arrested Tunisha's co-actor Sheezan Khan on the charge of abetting her suicide. Tunisha was acting in Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul. She was found hanging in the washroom on the set of the serial on Saturday.
"TV actor Tushisha Sharma's death is a matter of love jihad. Police are probing the case. We are seeing that such cases are increasing day by day. We are considering to bring a strict law against it,” Mahajan said on Sunday.
Govt would study law on love jihad framed by other states: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had last week said the government would study laws on "love jihad" framed by other states and take an appropriate decision.

Set up a SIT to probe Tunsha's death: AICWA

Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) on Sunday also demanded that the Maharashtra government set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the death of Tunisha Sharma.

“We demand the government form an SIT in Tunisha Sharma’s suicide case and the probe be conducted thoroughly. Today, I went to the set where Tunisha Sharma died by suicide. I found people were scared. Something wrong must have happened,” AICWA president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta said.

Gupta said women are not safe on the set of the television show that Tunisha was shooting for. "The set is at a very interior location where people are afraid to commute. The government should pay attention to this matter and have the death probed by an SIT. Many things will come out after the probe,” he added.
