Bengaluru Metro Pillar Collapse: Woman, Child Die As Pillar Falls On Bike

Bengaluru: A woman and her two-and-a-half-year-old son were killed when an under-construction Metro pillar collapsed in Bangalore's Nagawara on Tuesday. The woman's husband and a daughter are seriously injured. He has been admitted to the hospital. The woman's family was going on a bike when the pillar fell on them. Of the woman's twin children, the son lost his life, while the daughter is critical.

Cong targets govt: Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar said that this accident is the result of the functioning of the government with 40% commission. Because of this, there is no quality in any work. At the same time, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The MD of Bangalore Metro has announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the victim's family.

According to the police, the incident took place around 11 am on Outer Ring Road near HBR Layout. Lohith Kumar, his wife Tejaswini and their twin children were passing by on a bike. The work of Namma Metro station is going on here. The structure of a pillar made of iron bars was being erected for the metro pillar, which fell on their bike.

Man, daughter seriously injured: Tejaswini and her two and a half year old son Vihaan died on the spot in the accident. Whereas, Lohit and his daughter were seriously injured in the accident. Police said that both the woman and the man riding the bike were wearing helmets.

After the pillar fell, the MD of Bengaluru Metro reached the spot. He claimed that his company takes full care of the quality in the work. He said that it would be known only after a detailed investigation of the case whether there was a technical reason behind it or human error.
