Digvijaya Singh Targets PM Modi Over Pulwama Attack, Reiterates No Proof Of Air Strikes

Jammu: Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Monday targeted the Centre and PM Narendra Modi over 2019 Pulwama terror strike, in which over 40 jawans were martyred.

He said the Center had also not given proof of the air strikes carried out against Pakistan after Pulwama attack. Singh said the government has not provided information about the incident in Parliament or in public.

Digvijaya Singh was speaking in Jammu, where he joined Rahul Gandhi on his Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Digvijaya Singh said Pulwama was a hotbed of terrorism where every car was being checked. So it is inconceivable that a Scorpio car came from the wrong side but was not checked. Then there was a collision and 40 of our security personnel lost their lives, he added.

The Congress leader claimed that during the Pulwama attack, CRPF officers had said that the soldiers should be moved by aircraft, but the Prime Minister did not agree.

Singh said the director of CRPF had demanded that this is a sensitive zone. Soldiers should be sent to Srinagar by air, but Modi ji refused.

Irresponsible statement: BJP

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia reacted to this. He said that it is the character of the Congress party to make irresponsible statements. The country will not tolerate anyone who speaks against our security forces. There is no patriotism left in Rahul Gandhi and Digvijaya Singh because of their hatred for PM Modi.

The Congress has raised questions in the past regarding the Pulwama attack and the aerial strike. Over the years, the party has toned down its criticism, unwilling to let the BJP accuse it of doubting the Army.

Ramesh stopped Singh

Meanwhile, according to some reports, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Monday stopped Digvijaya Singh from making further damaging remarks after a reporter sought clarification over his remarks questioning the authenticity of Surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army.
