IAF Fighter Plane Crash In Morena: IAF Chief Briefs Rajnath Singh

New Delhi: Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary has given a detailed briefing to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh about the developments related to the crash of two fighter jets of the Air Force.

The Defence Minister inquired about the pilots flying the crashed planes. The Defence Minister is closely monitoring this entire development.

On the other hand, the Air Force spokesperson has told that two fighter jets of the Air Force have met with an accident near Gwalior in the morning. The aircrafts were on a routine training sortie mission.

The spokesman said that there were three pilots on board both the planes and one of the pilots has died. He said both the pilots flying the Sukhoi aircraft were safe.

He said that an inquiry has been ordered to find out the cause of the accident.

The second crashed plane is said to be Mirage.

Meanwhile, the army has clarified that none of its helicopters has crashed and the reports coming in the media about this are not correct.

According to earlier reports, two fighter jets of the Air Force crashed after taking off from the Gwalior airbase in Madhya Pradesh this morning for an exercise.

According to preliminary information, a Miraj series aircraft fell in the deserted area of Pahargarh area of Morena district, while a Sukhoi series aircraft fell in the border of Bharatpur area of Rajasthan adjoining Morena district. 

The wreckage of the aircraft spread at Manpur in Pahargarh area, about 90 km from Morena district headquarters. 

Apart from the Air Force team, a police team has also reached the spot and cordoned off the debris area so that no one can go near it.

It is reported that the Sukhoi and Miraj aircraft took off from the Gwalior airbase for exercise between around 9 am to 10 am. Shortly afterwards the planes were reported to have crashed. 

It is not yet clear whether the planes collided in the sky. Because the debris of both the planes have been found at a distance of at least one hundred kilometers apart.

Morena Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Bagri said that after the information about the plane crash in the district, the police force was immediately activated and the police team reached on the spot.
