Raghuveer Singh Kunwar, a resident of Sinhadhar in Joshimath, told that the marriage of his son Rohit Kunwar was fixed on the day of Basant Panchami. Their houses have also been destroyed by the landslide and they have been kept in relief camps.
Hotels were booked for ceremonies but then the disaster came
There are some people among those staying in relief camps who have a marriage programme in their families. The wedding schedule and dates were already fixed. Hotels and venues were also booked for the wedding, but in the meantime, a landslide occurred and people's houses were razed. 902 members of 250 families are living in various relief camps as their houses became unsafe due to landslides.
Raghuveer Singh Kunwar told that the marriage of his son Rohit Kunwar was due to take place on Vasant Panchami. Rohit Kunwar's marriage was fixed with Megha, daughter of Narendra Singh Negi of Baula village of Dasholi development block, preparations for the marriage were going on for many months. Hotel rooms were also booked.
House of groom was also hit by landslide
Meanwhile, from January 02, people's houses started cracking due to landslides. People were forced to leave their homes and go to relief camps. The house of the groom Rohit Kunwar was also hit by the landslide. Due to which he has to stay in his family's relief camp in Joshimath's Gurdwara.
