Rashtrapati Bhavan's Mughal Gardens Renamed Amrit Udyan; What Makes It So Unique?

 

New Delhi: The iconic Mughal Gardens at the President's official home, Rashtrapati Bhavan, has been renamed to Amrit Udyan.
"On the occasion of the celebrations of 75 years of Independence as 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', the President of India has given a common name to the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens as 'Amrit Udyan':," Navika Gupta, Deputy Press Secretary to President said.

A mesmerising view 

Located inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Mughal Garden (now Amrit Udyan) is one of the most beautiful gardens you will ever visit. It is also called the ‘soul’ of the Presidential Palace. This beautiful garden was originally constructed by the Mughals. It was later redesigned by Sir Edwin Lutyens for Lady Harding. Covering over 13 acres with beautiful flowers, shrubs, and herbs, it offers a mesmerising view that you will never forget. The garden has fountains everywhere which add to the soothing atmosphere out there.

Children’s section

As you walk through the garden, you will explore numerous flower plants, a variety of herbs and even different species of ficus in the bonsai section. The garden also has a children’s section for them to play and enjoy. The beautiful construction of the garden draws thousands of tourists throughout the year. 

Colorful waves of flowers all around you

The view of the Mughal Garden is something that you haven’t seen before. The vast stretches of flowering plants, herbs, and shrubs fill the air with a lovely fragrance. Right from the time you enter the garden, you can only see colourful waves of flowers all around you.

159 celebrated varieties of roses

The Gardens boasts of growing 159 celebrated varieties of roses which blossom primarily in the month of February and March. They include, Adora, Mrinalini, Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Modern Art, Scentimental, Oklahoma (also called black rose), Belami, Black Lady, Paradise, Blue Moon, among others. Besides rosee, there are countless varieties of other flowers.
