India Wins Under-19 Women's Cricket World Cup; Titas Sadhu Player Of Match; England's Grace Scrivens Is Player Of Tournament

Potchefstroom: India has won the title of the first Under-19 Women's Cricket World Cup. The Indian team defeated England by 7 wickets in the final. India won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Potchefstroom stadium in South Africa and bowled out England for 68 runs in 17.1 overs. India achieved the target of 69 runs in 3 wickets in 14 overs.

Chasing a paltry 69 for victory, the Indian side hit up the runs for the loss of just three wickets. India lost Verma (15) and Shweta Sehrawat (5) early, but Gongadi Trisha (24) and Soumya Tiwari (24 not out) steadied the innings and guided the team home in 14 overs.

Titas Sadhu, who took 2 wickets for 6 runs in the final, was given the player of the match award. England captain Grace Scrivens was the player of the tournament. She scored 293 runs in 7 matches and also took 9 wickets.

Rs 5 crore for India team

The BCCI announced a reward of Rs 5 crore to the women's cricket team and support staff for winning the tournament. Also, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has called Captain Shefali Verma and Team India to Ahmedabad to watch third T20I between India-NZ.
Shah tweeted: I invite Shafali Verma and her victorious team to join us at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad and witness the third T20I on 1st February. This splendid achievement surely calls for a celebration.
