Joshimath Sinking: Tremors in Uttarkashi Amid Cracks In Joshimath, Panic Among People

Joshimath: Amidst the Joshimath crisis in Uttarakhand, big news is coming from Uttarkashi district, where once again people were in panic due to the tremors of the earthquake. 

In fact, earthquake tremors were felt in Uttarkashi district at 2.12 am during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Due to the tremors, there is an atmosphere of panic among the people of Uttarkashi district. 

According to the information received, the intensity of the earthquake has been recorded 2.9 on the Richter scale, whose center is said to be 10 kilometers inside the earth in Uttarkashi.

Epicenter of earthquake was about 240 km from Joshimath

Even though the epicenter of the earthquake was about 240 km away from Joshimath, people are also worried that the cracks might widen due to the tremors.

Earlier, earthquake tremors were felt in Uttarkashi on December 28 last year. Then the intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 3.1 on the Richter scale. 

At the same time, even before this, due to the shaking of the earth in Uttarkashi in the last few months, an atmosphere of panic was created among the people.

The land of Joshimath is rapidly sinking and this is the reason why cracks are appearing from the road to the houses. 

Joshimath sunk by 5.4 cm in 12 days

The pictures of Joshimath Sinking in Uttarakhand are horrifying. This city is moving towards destruction and is sinking into the ground. ISRO's National Remote Sensing Center has revealed through satellite images that within just 12 days i.e. between December 27 and January 8, Joshimath sank down by 5.4 cm.

Impose a strict ban on construction: HC

Meanwhile, The Uttarakhand High Court directed the state government to impose a strict ban on construction work in the ‘sinking’ town of Joshimath. Hearing a plea on the issue, the court also directed the state authorities to formulate a committee of experts to look into the matter and submit the report within the next two months.
