Bhopal: Assembly elections are going to be held in Madhya Pradesh in a few months. There is a direct contest between the Congress and the BJP in the state. Both the parties have started giving final touches to their poll strategy.
Interestingly, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also started registering its presence in this direct competition between BJP and Congress. AAP is planning election campaign on the lines of Gujarat.
Challenges for both Cong and BJP
BJP and Congress may have to face many challenges in the upcoming elections. And the AAP can also leave its mark in the Madhya Pradesh elections.
200-day action plan
In the BJP state executive meeting on January 24, the leaders of the party brainstormed a lot and during this, state president Vishnu Dutt Sharma announced a '200-day action plan' for the assembly elections.
Muralidhar Rao, in-charge of Madhya Pradesh, said, "The target of getting 200 seats in 200 days is in front of the organization, leaders, MLAs, MPs and ministers of the state."
Many leaders worked against party in last election: Shivraj
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that he has a file of those leaders 'who had walked with the party's candidates in the last elections but worked against the party.
According to Shivraj, many candidates had to face defeat because of them. During this, he used words like betrayal.
Senior BJP leader and spokesperson Lokendra Parashar said that the people are happy due to the welfare schemes of the government that have benefitted every section of the society.
Regarding the leaders who worked against the party, Parashar claims that action has already been taken against many such leaders.
Many MLAs may not get party ticket
But indications are coming from the corridors of the BJP itself that the organization can do something similar to what it did in Gujarat. That is, there are many MLAs who may not get party ticket this time and new faces should be given place.
Congress also busy preparing for elections
In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress first reformed its youth wing and changed the entire state executive. Show cause notices have also been issued to many party leaders and district units have also been reorganized.
The challenges are not less for the Congress as well, but Piyush Babele, media in-charge of the State Congress, says that last time the Congress got the mandate, but the BJP toppled the Congress government. He feels that it will benefit the Congress.
He said, "Because of this, the anger among the people against the BJP has increased. People gave mandate to the Congress. But the government was toppled through manipulations."
Piyush Babele says that agitations are going on in the entire state. From power workers to ASHA workers, all are angry.
Cong can benefit from anti-incumbency
But some political observers feel that Kamal Nath is still not fully aware of the politics of the state. But this time also Congress can get the benefit of anti-incumbency wave.
The faces in the government are there for decades, due to which people can also look for change. But Congress also has to deal with many problems.
Arun Yadav, Ajay Singh sidelined
There are many such leaders from whom the party has distanced itself or they themselves have distanced themselves from the party. Arun Yadav, one of the faces who has been fighting for the Congress, is also marginalized. He has served as the President of the State Congress.
Similarly, Arjun Singh's son Ajay Singh is also sitting at home after losing many elections. In the 2018 elections, people had given less votes in favor of Congress and more votes against BJP.
AAP to field candidates on all 230 seats
AAP has announced to field candidates on all 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh and for the next 200 days, the party is working in a planned manner from strengthening its organization to fielding strong candidates.
The Aam Aadmi Party made entry in the politics of Madhya Pradesh through the elections of urban bodies and panchayats.
At present, it has 52 corporators in the state and one mayor from Singrauli. Political analysts are also surprised by the AAP getting six percent votes in these elections.
AAP has 3.5 lakh volunteers in state
The party's state president Pankaj Singh claimed that at present they have 3.5 lakh volunteers in the state and they are campaigning to strengthen their organization to 66,000 booths across the state.
AAP's Pankaj Singh says, "People of Madhya Pradesh are fed up with the politics of BJP and Congress. That's why AAP is the new option for them, we are telling this to people. We should also give them the example of Delhi and Punjab. We are getting a good response from the people as well."
As of now, the AAP does not seem to have that much influence in the MP elections. In some seats, the AAP candidates can create trouble for the Congress itself, as happened in Gujarat by working as votekatwa in MP.
