Pathaan Release: Long Queues Witnessed Outside Movie Halls Despite Protests By Hindu Outfits In Many States; Film Also Leaked Online

New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Pathaan', which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, released on Wednesday in theatres across the country amid protests staged by right-wing members in many states.

The first show was canceled due to protests by Hindu organizations in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, protests are going on outside the cinema halls against Pathaan in the capital Bhopal. Heavy police force has been deployed outside the theatres. In Ratlam too, Hinduist organizations have opposed the film. Pathaan's posters were torn at many places in Bihar and UP also.

Despite the protests, the first show had to be increased by 300 screens, which means that now this film is being shown on 5 thousand 500 screens in the country. Many such videos have also surfaced on social media, in which people are seen celebrating the release of Pathaan.

Long queues

Theatres in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and many other cities witnessed long queues from early morning as people lined up to watch the first show of the film.

However, the right-wing protesters also gathered outside the movie halls against the screening of the movie.

Got leaked online

Pathaan got leaked online a day before its theatrical release. Film makers appealed to fans to watch the film in cinema halls. Along with this, they also said that neither do videography of the film in theaters nor share it with anyone.

Shahrukh greets on reopening of single screens

Along with release of Pathaan, 25 single screen cinema halls have also restarted, which were closed due to some reason during Covid. Expressing happiness over this, Shah Rukh tweeted on social media and congratulated all those single screens.

SRK wrote, 'As a child, I have seen all the movies on single screens only. It has its own fun. I pray and pray that all of you and I get success. Congratulations on re-opening.

Shahrukh's fans celebrated the film's release outside a cinema hall in Hyderabad. Here people were seen dancing on drums.

Hindu outfits protest in UP

In UP, Hindu organizations protested ahead of the release of the movie Pathaan in Agra on Wednesday. After this the police reached the spot. There was uproar in Baghpat as well and posters were burnt. Cinema house owners demanded security. The police force has been deployed outside the halls. More than 80% shows of the film are booked in Meerut and Kanpur. Fan celebrated the film by cutting a cake in Meerut. Hindu activists also opposed the film in Bihar.

VHP activists burnt posters in Karnataka

Pathaan's release is being opposed in many places in Karnataka as well. Activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad protested against the film in Bengaluru and burnt its posters.

Several supporters came out on streets with banners and posters demanding a boycott of the film. This comes hours after the VHP spokesperson earlier in the day said they will not oppose the film “for the time being”.

“Keeping our earlier objections in mind, changes made in the film are correct. After watching the film, if we find anything objectionable, then we'll reconsider opposing the film,” VHP spokesperson Shriraj Nair said.

On Tuesday, the VHP’s Gujarat unit had also withdrawn its protest against the film expressing satisfaction over removal of “objectionable” contents from the film.
