Ukraine Helicopter Crash: Interior Minister Among 16 Die As Chopper Crashes Into School In Brovary near Kyiv

Kyiv: A helicopter crashed in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, killed 16 people including the Interior Minister of Ukraine. The crash of a State Emergency Service helicopter in Brovary, near Kyiv, killed 16 people, including Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky, his deputy, Yevhen Yenin, and the ministry's secretary Yuriy Lubkovych, as well as 2 children, chief of Ukraine's National Police Ihor Klymenko said. Monastrisky became the Home Minister of Ukraine in the year 2021 itself. 

Helicopter crashed into a school for children 

According to media reports, the helicopter crashed into a school for young children on the outskirts of Kyiv. 22 people were injured in the accident, including two children. Officials say that children and school staff were present in the play school at the time of the accident.

The accident took place in Brovary, a city northeast of Kyiv. After getting the information of the incident, police and emergency services officials have reached the spot. A video of this helicopter accident has also surfaced, in which the children's school is seen surrounded by flames after the accident.

So far the reason for the accident has not been known. "We are finding out information about casualties and the circumstances," the deputy head of Ukraine's presidential office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, wrote on the Telegram messaging app, as per Reuters.
