Weather News: Dense Fog Engulfs Delhi-NCR, Severe Cold Wave In Many States


New Delhi: Entire North India including Delhi-NCR is shivering due to severe cold. Normal life has been thrown out of gear due to cold wave and fog. People have to resort to bonfires to avoid the cold. Along with the cold wave in Delhi-NCR, there was fog on Sunday morning. 

A thick layer of fog enveloped the national capital, reducing visibility. In view of the increasing cold, it has become difficult for people to get out of the houses.

Trains, flights delayed

Road and rail traffic is also affected due to dense fog. Air travelers are also facing hardship due to severe fog and cold in the national capital. Due to the fog, many flights flying from Delhi airport were delayed. Around 20 flights are running late at Delhi airport due to bad weather. 

Passengers say that the visibility at the airport is very low amid the bitter cold. Whereas, 42 trains are running late in Northern Railway zone due to fog.

Cold wave to severe cold wave in many states

According to Skymet Weather, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions occurred over parts of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and West Rajasthan.

Cold day to severe cold conditions occurred over many parts of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and over parts of Bihar, North Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh.

Dense fog was witnessed across Indo Gangetic Plains from Punjab to Bihar across Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Weather Activity in the next 24 hours:

During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain and snow may occur over Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Himachal Pradesh. Intensity and spread of rain and snow may increase from January 8 evening.

Dense fog may continue over Indo-Gangetic Plains, however intensity may decrease over west Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana.

Cold day conditions are possible over many parts of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Cold wave conditions may continue over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, north and West Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and parts of Madhya Pradesh.
