Weather News: Snowfall in Himalayn States Uttarakhand, Himachal, Kashmir; Severe Cold Alert Issued


New Delhi: Due to snowfall on the peaks, the weather has become cold in the the mountain as well as the plains. Due to the activation of Western Disturbance, the weather pattern has changed in Uttarakhand for the last two days. Snowfall on the peaks and light rain in the lower areas continues.

Severe cold alert in Uttarakhand, surrounding areas 

Due to snowfall and rain on the mountains, people will not get relief from the cold. The Meteorological Center has issued an alert regarding severe cold in the surrounding states including Uttarakhand from January 14 to 19. During this, due to dense fog and cold winds blowing in the plains, shivering may increase.

Normal life thrown out of gear in HP

The weather has once again taken a turn in Himachal Pradesh. Normal life has been thrown out of gear due to snowfall in Shimla, Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Mandi and Kinnaur. Due to fresh snowfall, 200 roads including three national highways have been blocked in the state. 

Blackout in many area

487 power transformers have become dysfunctional. Blackout has occurred in many areas. Jakhu, the highest peak of the capital Shimla, received its first snowfall of the season in the early hours of Friday.

The hill of Jakhu has turned white. Light drizzle continues in the city. Buses have been stopped for Upper Shimla.

Heavy snowfall continues in many areas of Kashmir

Severe cold continues in Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy snowfall continues in many areas of Kashmir. Heavy rains are continuing in Jammu division since Friday morning. 

Landslides at many places

Tourist places Patnitop-Nathatop, Gulmarg, Srinagar, Pahalgam have received snowfall. Due to the rain, landslides have occurred at many places on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. this is affecting traffic

Vaishno Devi helicopter service hit

On the other hand, the bad weather has also affected the Vaishno Devi helicopter service. In Jammu and Kashmir, snowfall is continuing in the higher reaches including Gulmarg for the last 24 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain and snowfall during the next 24 hours.
