New Delhi: Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha became emotional during a press conference in Delhi. Usha said the illegal construction was taking place on the land of her academy 'Usha School of Athletics' in Kozhikode, Kerala of illegal construction. She said the acts of encroachment and hooliganism increased ever since she was
nominated as the Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha last year.
Usha said that girls from all over the country come to this academy. This is a matter of their safety. Some domineering people are undertaking illegal constructions on the academy land. The Chief Minister should intervene in this matter.
Academy is being targeted since I became RS Member: Usha
Usha said- 'Usha School of Athletics' is being targeted since I became a Rajya Sabha MP. Personal attacks are taking place on me. Some goons entered the academy on Friday night and indulged in hooliganism. Girls are scared of this. Such actions have been happening since long. The academy has 25 girls. A police complaint has been lodged in this regard. Last year PT Usha was nominated to the Rajya Sabha.
The Usha School of Athletics offers training to thousands of athletes from across the country. It was established in 2002 in a bid to help produce Olympic medal winners in India.
Usha claimed that a few people recently barged into the academy and began construction work. The encroachers were removed from the academy after a complaint was lodged at the local police station.
"Some people barged into the campus of Usha School of Athletics and began construction work. When management confronted them, they misbehaved. They claimed that they had permission from Panangad panchayat, we complained to the police, and work was stopped," she said.
