India Vs Australia 1st Test: Ball Tampering Charge Against Ravindra Jadeja, What BCCI sais

Nagpur: After the end of the first day of the Nagpur Test, the Australian media accused India's Ravindra Jadeja of ball tampering. Australia's 'Fox Cricket' channel shared a video of Ravindra Jadeja. In this, Jadeja was seen bowling after applying something on his finger.

The Australian media linked Jadeja's act to ball tempering. On this, former England captain Michael Vaughan asked what Jadeja was putting on his finger.

The BCCI has said the ball tampering charge is baseless and Jadeja had only applied balm.

What's in the video?

Aussie fans have posted a clip from the match today in which Jadeja can be seen applying something on his index finger while holding the ball after exchanging something from Siraj.

He put that thing on his finger for a long time and started bowling. However, in the video, Jadeja was not seen applying that thing to the ball.

It is not clear as to what the two players exchanged in their hands but the clip clearly shows that whatever Jadeja took from Siraj, he applied it on his finger and not on the ball.

The video is of the time when the Australian team's score was 120 runs at the loss of 5 wickets and Jadeja was bowling.

Australian media asked what did Siraj give to Jadeja?

Ex-England captain Michael Vaughan was also perplexed as to what Jadeja applied on his finger. “What is it he is putting on his spinning finger? Never ever seen this,” Vaughan tweeted.

At the same time, Tim Paine, former captain of the Australian team, also described this video as 'interesting'.

BCCI rejects charge

However, BCCI has rejected the charge and said Jadeja had only applied balm to his finger.
Meanwhile, at the end of the first day's play, India was 77 for the loss of 1 wicket. Earlier, Australia was bowled out for 177. India now need only 100 runs to equal Australia's first inning total.
