Is LTTE Chief Velupillai Prabhakaran Alive? Claim Made By Pazha Nedumaran

Colombo: Tamil nationalist leader Pazha Nedumaran on Monday claimed that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) chief Velupillai Prabhakaran was alive and that he was making this announcement with the LTTE chief's acquiescence. Pazha Nedumaran said Prabhakaran's family members were in touch with him.

Nedumaran informed that Prabhakaran is alive and well. We are sure that this will put an end to the rumors of his death. He will soon come in front of the people.

Prabhakaran was killed by the Sri Lankan Army during the last phase of the civil war in 2009 and his body was identified by the LTTE's former leader Karuna Amman.

Two weeks later in the DNA test also it was said that this body was of Prabhakaran. During this his son Anthony Charles was also killed.

Nedumaran's claim has little credence

Pazha Nedumaran's claims will likely have no believers as the Sri Lankan Army had, in 2009, released pictures of the deceased Prabhakaran after his body was found in the forests of Mullivayakal in northern Sri Lanka on May 19, 2009.

Sri Lankan army had announced Prabahakaran's death so that no such claims is made later that he has escaped from Sri Lanka. Prabhakaran's body was identified by none other than this former lieutenant and rebel LTTE leader Karuna Amman who laid the guns and became a minister in the Mahindra Rajapaksa-led presidency.
