Maharashtra Accident: SUV Runs Over Women Crossing Road On Pune-Nashik Highway; 5 Die, 12 Seriously Hurt

Pune: An SUV mowed down 17 women on Maharashtra's Pune-Nashik highway late on Monday night. 5 women died on the spot. 12 women are seriously injured. They are being treated. 

This incident occurred near Shiroli village, about 50 km from Pune city.

It is said that a van hit 17 women while crossing the road. All the injured women are being treated in private and rural hospitals of Chandauli.

It is being told that all these women were going from Pune city to the Mangal office at Shiroli in Khed taluka for cooking. These women worked as cooks and used to cross the highway around night time.

Driver fled with van

This accident happened at around 11 pm on the lane going from Pune to Nashik. While crossing the road, a van hit these women. After crushing the women, the driver broke the road divider and fled with the van. Police is investigating further in this matter.

The police officer said that after registering a case against the accused, the police is looking for him.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
