Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain Resign From Delhi Cabinet

New Delhi: Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, two ministers of the Kejriwal government in Delhi, have resigned from the post. According to the news agency, Chief Minister Kejriwal has also accepted the resignation of both. Both are accused in separate cases.

When Satyendar Jain was arrested in May over allegations of money laundering, Kejriwal simply transferred his departments to Sisodia. Jain held on to his job despite being in jail.

Vacuum in key portfolios

AAP sources said with Sisodia's arrest the Delhi government has a vacuum in key portfolios like finance, health and education.

After Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia is the biggest leader in Aam Aadmi Party. Manish Sisodia had 18 portfolios out of total 33 in Delhi government. After the arrest of Sisodia, the biggest problem is that who will handle his work.

Another minister of Kejriwal, Satyendar Jain is already in jail. Jain held the portfolios of Health, Industries, Power, Home, Irrigation, Flood Control and Water Resources, which were handed over to Sisodia. Sisodia had the most important departments like education, public works, finance, excise.

Not an acceptance of guilt

The resignations were not an acceptance of guilt in any way, AAP asserted. The party said it was an administrative step and no new ministers would join the cabinet.

Manish Sisodia's departments are likely to be assigned to Kailash Gahlot and Raj Kumar Anand.
