Political Tussle Over Kanpur Dehat Fire Incident Intensifies, Will Yogi Be Able To Get Out Of It Unblemished?

Kanpur Dehat: Death of a mother-daughter duo from serious burns in a fire during an anti-encroachment drive at Madauli village in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat is snowballing into a big issue.

The state government has constituted the SIT and also given financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the victim's family. The Chief Minister has also issued instructions to provide security to the victim's family, but is this enough?

A two-member SIT has been constituted to investigate the fire incident. Kanpur Divisional Commissioner Rajshekhar and ADG Kanpur Zone Alok Singh have been placed in the SIT; they have also been instructed to submit their detailed report on the entire matter to the government within a week. Action will be taken against the guilty officers only on the basis of the SIT report.

What happened in Kanpur Dehat

Madauli is a village in Maitha tehsil of Kanpur Dehat. There was a complaint against Krishna Gopal Dixit in the village for illegal occupation. On Monday, SDM Maitha Gyaneshwar Prasad along with police and revenue personnel had reached the village to remove the encroachment. A tap and temple were razed with a  JCB machine.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out in the thatched hut and Pramila (44) and her daughter Neha (18) present were engulfed in the fire. They were burnt to death on the spot, while Krishna Gopal was seriously burnt.

Yogi Adityanath in trouble

Many videos and photos of Krishna Gopal Dixit are coming. Kanpur Dehat is trending on social media. Along with this, audio-videos of DM Neha Jain and SP dancing and singing are also being made viral.

On the pretext of linking this incident with Vikas Dubey's encounter, it is alleged Yogi's government is against a particular community. People are also asking the question that if the same incident had happened to a person from any other caste or community, what would have been the stand of the government?

Even when the encounter of gangster Vikas Dubey took place, an atmosphere was created against the Yogi government for several days. This time people have seen how the police-administration has acted indiscriminately in the matter.

Is the government against a particular community?

Yogi Adityanath's government is considered very strict on the issue of law and order. In this sequence, many times, the people of the Human Rights Commission also have targeted the government. The famous Bikru incident took place on July 10, 2020, in which UP police shot dead mafia Vikas Dubey in an encounter. Since then, the Yogi government has always been put in the dock.

The root of the criticism in the Vikas Dubey episode is not Vikas Dubey and his crime, but all the other encounters that took place on the allegation of having a relationship with Vikas Dubey. Not only are questions being raised on all these encounters, but there is no criminal record in the police against most of those who have been killed in encounters.

Yogi accused of not promoting any Brahmin leader

Yogi is accused of not promoting any Brahmin leader. In the cabinet too, the number of Kshatriyas is more than that of Brahmins and there have been allegations of discrimination in appointments and postings. But this incident has helped to substantiate his allegation that Brahmins are being targeted.

Since the next year is of elections, it will be interesting to see how the Chief Minister deals with this problem.
