Turkey Syria Earthquake: NDRF Teams With Relief Material Leave For Turkey

New Delhi: Second IAF C-17 with self-contained NDRF teams including dog squads, search and rescue equipment, extrication tools and vehicles has left for Turkey.

Search & Rescue Teams of NDRF and Medical Teams along with relief material have been dispatched immediately in coordination with the Government of Republic of Türkiye.

Two teams of NDRF comprising 100 personnel with specially trained dog squads and necessary equipment have flown to the earthquake hit area for search & rescue operations. 

Medical Teams with trained doctors and paramedics with essential medicines have also reached Turkey. Relief material were dispatched in coordination with the Government of Republic of Türkiye and Indian Embassy in Ankara and Consulate General office in Istanbul.

The death toll has risen to 5,000 in the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria. Thousands of people are still missing. About 50 countries have assured to send aid to Turkey.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed concern over the situation in Turkey. Modi reached the BJP parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday.

According to sources, Modi said, 'I can understand the situation Turkey is going through today. When the earthquake hit Bhuj in 2001, I was the Chief Minister. I know what are the difficulties in the rescue operations.
