What Message Does Joe Biden's Surprise Visit To Ukraine Convey?

Kiev: US President Joe Biden suddenly arrived in Ukraine's capital Kiev on Monday. Biden's arrival in Kiev is clearly a strong message for both China and Russia. Two days ago, Biden had made it clear that China is supporting Russia on the issue of Ukraine and America was fully aware of this.

This is also a message to Iran

Biden has made it clear to both Russia and China that America is not going to be a victim of any pressure tactics. This is also a message to Iran in a way, because only last week Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi suddenly went on a Beijing visit.

The Pentagon had also said that the sighting of China's spy balloon in America and Iran's active policy in this matter is a clear indication that something is brewing. If this happens, America and NATO have the power and right to give a befitting reply.

Show of U.S. support for Ukraine

The surprise visit can be seen as a major show of U.S. support for Ukraine. In a White House press statement issued Monday, Biden said his visit aimed to "reaffirm our unwavering and unflagging commitment to Ukraine's democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity."

“When Putin launched his invasion nearly one year ago, he thought Ukraine was weak and the West was divided. He thought he could outlast us. But he was dead wrong," he said.

Biden's appearance in Ukraine shows that the U.S. stands with Zelenskyy despite growing pressure at home to downsize American aid.

“The first visit of the President of the United States to Ukraine in almost 15 years is the most important visit in the history of Ukrainian-American relations,” Zelenskyy posted on the social media site Telegram after the trip concluded.

Biden insisted that the U.S. will remain steadfast in its support of Ukraine.

War between Russia and Ukraine is going to be long

With this visit, Biden wants to tell that America is with Ukraine. Now Biden's statements are telling that he is not moving towards ceasefire. America feels that any kind of negotiation with Russia at the moment will damage its credibility. In such a situation, this war between Russia and Ukraine is going to be long.

The White House press statement said that the U.S. will provide further military aid including artillery ammunition, anti-armor systems, and air surveillance radars to better defend Ukraine's skies. It also said that further sanctions would be issued on companies and individuals who support Russia's war efforts.

A $500 military aid package will be announced Tuesday and it will include more ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) in Ukraine's possession. The anti-armor weapons include Javelin shoulder-launched missiles that are capable of destroying tanks.
