New Zealand Jolted By 7.1 Strong Earthquake; No Danger of Tsunami

Wellington: Strong earthquake tremors were felt in the Kermadec Islands of New Zealand, located in the north of New Zealand, on Thursday morning. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 7.1 on the Richter scale. The China Earthquake Network Center (CENC) gave this information. A Tsunami alert has been issued after the earthquake.

The CENC said the epicenter of the earthquake was at 30.2 degrees south latitude and 176.05 degrees west longitude and at a depth of 10 km from the surface. 

After the earthquake, USGS issued a tsunami warning in New Zealand. At the same time, New Zealand's National Emergency Management Agency says that there is no danger of tsunami.

Thousands of earthquakes occur every year in New Zealand. The biggest reason behind this is that it is located on the edges of the area of seismic activity, which is called the Ring of Fire.
