Madhya Pradesh Assembly: Tribal Youth Died In Firing By Badgonda Police In Mhow; Congress Surrounds Government

Bhopal: After the death of a tribal woman in Mhow of Indore district of Madhya Pradesh, the protests of the tribals intensified. The tribal community protested against the police and administration at Badgonda police station in Mhow.

To control the raging tribals, the police opened fire resulting in the death of a youth. This has heated up the politics of Madhya Pradesh while the tribals are agitated. The opposition party Congress has got a big issue against the BJP government while the elections are not far. 

Raising the issue of atrocities on tribal, the Congress created a ruckus in the House. The proceedings of the Assembly had to be adjourned for 10 minutes. Though the government has ordered an inquiry into the entire matter, the Congress is not going to give up on the issue easily.

Congress raised the issue in the assembly 

During the budget session in the state assembly on Thursday, the Congress lashed out at the government on this issue. Not only this, former CM Kamal Nath presented the figures of atrocities on tribals in the BJP government. 

Citing some reports, Kamal Nath said that Madhya Pradesh has been at the top in atrocities on tribals. He said that such cases are also investigated and then nothing happens. He demanded from the government that the matter should be investigated within a certain time frame.

On the other hand former minister Jaivardhan Singh also put the government in the dock. Jaivardhan Singh asked from where the police got the orders to fire. He said that due to the rape of a tribal woman, the people of the tribal society were agitated. Why do the police open fire only when the tribals are protesting? 

Speaker Girish Gautam said that in this matter he has received an adjournment motion from the members. Information is coming from the government. After this, the question hour started in the house.

Tribal MLA Hiralal Alava vented ire on govt

Congress' tribal MLA Hiralal Alava has also put the BJP government in the dock regarding the Mhow case. He said he condemns the Mhow firing. Alava said we have fought against the atrocities in Nemawar and Neemuch. Now on this issue too, we will raise the voice of the tribals in the assembly. There is a case of torture and murder of tribal daughter. Jayas has always been fighting for the rights of the tribals.

Probe will be conducted: Govt

The government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the whole matter. Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra said that the government is conducting an inquiry. Mishra expressed grief over the incident and said 13 policemen were injured in the incident. TI is also seriously injured. He said that the situation will be clear after the PM report comes.

The Home Minister said that it has come to light that the girl who died used to live with the concerned youth. He cited the preliminary report received in the matter that she was heating water when she got electrocuted and died. The girl's parents were infuriated and yesterday they blocked the road and alleged that she was murdered.

The Home Minister said that in this case the police arrested a person and brought him to the police station. The crowd also came behind and pelted stones at the police station. 

The crowd demanded that the youth be handed over to them and they themselves would do justice. Station in-charge has been injured in stone pelting and has been sent to Indore for treatment. Around 13 jawans have also been injured. Meanwhile, firing also took place.

Mishra said that the last rites of the girl have been performed this morning. The post mortem report is also likely to come by afternoon. The Chief Minister has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the entire matter. He also told that the girl's parents are talking about gangrape with her. He said that everything will become clear in the investigation.

What is the whole matter

The whole matter pertains to Badgonda police station area of Mhow adjacent to Indore. Where after the suspicious death of a girl belonging to the tribal class, the family members staged a protest on Wednesday evening by placing the dead body of the girl in front of the Dongargaon outpost. 

The demonstration continued here for about an hour. Later the police team used force to chase away the villagers. Simultaneously, the police resorted to lathi charge and firing. The irate villagers pelted stones at the police post. After this, a youth was shot in police firing, who later succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning at MY Hospital during treatment
