Delhi Liquor Policy Case: Hearing On Manish Sisodia's Bail Plea Now On March 24

New Delhi: A special court adjourned the hearing till March 24 on the bail plea of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, arrested on charges of corruption in the Delhi Liquor Policy case.
Special CBI Judge MK Nagpal adjourned the hearing till March 24 for filing written submissions by CBI after hearing arguments from the Central Bureau of Investigation and the defence counsel.

'No incriminating material was found against Sisodia'

Sisodia's counsel told the court that Sisodia has always cooperated with the probe agency and no incriminating material was found against him during the searches. He said that there is no evidence that the applicant Sisodia influenced the witnesses except a vague claim that he was in a position to influence the witnesses. He said that not only this, not even a single paisa has been received from Sisodia.
He further said that Sisodia's custodial interrogation is no longer required and he is not a risk that he would run away, therefore no worthwhile purpose would be served by keeping him behind bars. If granted bail, he is ready to abide by all the terms and conditions imposed by the court.

Sisodia frequently changed phone to destroy evidence: CBI

Opposing the bail application of Sisodia, the public prosecutor for CBI submitted before the court that in this case Sisodia's frequent change of phone was not an innocent act, but was done to destroy the evidence. He said that if granted bail, he could certainly be in a position to destroy evidence in the Excise Policy. Therefore, the bail application is liable to be dismissed being baseless.

Another bail plea moved by Sisodia in ED case, hearing on March 25

Former Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sisodia today moved another bail application in the Enforcement Directorate case. Special Judge MK Nagpal, after hearing the petition, issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and listed the bail application in the ED case for hearing on March 25.

Sisodia is currently lodged in the custody of Enforcement Directorate after his Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody ended. Sisodia has to be in judicial custody till April 3 in the CBI case.
Significantly, Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 after nearly eight hours of questioning on various aspects of the 2021-22 Excise Policy. According to the probe agency, the excise policy is riddled with irregularities in its formulation and implementation.
