Nagaland Assembly Election Results 2023: NDPP-BJP Alliance Heading Towards Big Win

Kohima: The National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance is headed for a landslide victory in the Nagaland Assembly elections.

Out of 60 assembly seats in the state, the alliance has won three seats and is leading in 36 seats.

According to the trends, two seats have come in BJP's account and one seat in NDPP's account. While BJP is leading on 11 seats and NDPP on 25 seats. 

Apart from this, the Republican Party of India (Athawale) has won two seats. Congress and Janata Dal (U) are leading in one seat each. NCP is leading in four, NPF, NPP and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) three each, and independent candidates in four.

Hekani Jakhalu first woman MLA of Nagaland

Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party's (NDPP) Hekani Jakhalu has become the first woman MLA of Nagaland by winning the Dimapur III seat. She defeated Azheto Zhimomi of Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) by 1536 votes. Hekani, 47, got 14,395 votes. She has entered politics only 7 months ago.

2 more women candidates ahead

In Nagaland with 60 assembly seats, 184 candidates were in the fray, out of which only 4 were women. NDPP's Salhoutuonuo Krus is leading from West Angami seat and BJP's Kahuli Sema is leading from Atoizu seat. 

If their lead turns into victory, then for the first time in Nagaland, 3 women MLAs will reach the House together.
