North-East Assembly Election Result 2023: BJP, Allies Surge Ahead In Tripura, Nagaland; Tight Fight In Meghalaya In Initial Trends

New Delhi: In the North-East Assembly elections, trends have come for 60 seats in Tripura, 59 in Meghalaya and 60 in Nagaland. 

BJP and its allies took the lead in Tripura and Nagaland. BJP+ has surged ahead in Tripura, Nagaland and leads in over 40 seats. A tight fight is being witnessed in Meghalaya. But these are initial leads, and the numbers are likely to change as the counting progresses.

In these trends, the BJP alliance is seen getting 38 seats in Tripura and 50 seats in Nagaland. NPP is set to become the single largest party in Meghalaya with 24 seats. BJP is ahead on 12, it seems to be gaining 10 seats.

The term of the Nagaland Assembly will end on March 12 and of Meghalaya on March 15 and Tripura on March 22. 

In the exit polls that came after the voting, the BJP alliance in Tripura-Nagaland has been predicted to obtain a majority. No one is expected to get a clear majority in Meghalaya. That is, there are chances of a hung assembly.

Counting is also underway for one assembly constituency each in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and two assembly seats in Maharashtra.
